As a long-term year-round Fort Myers resident, who frequently travels on business, I cannot recommend Bluebird Taxi and will not use them in the future. I have scheduled Bluebird Taxi on several occasions for home-to-airport transportation and once for scheduled airport pickup. Although sometimes the pickup at home has been on time or even a little early, it has as many times been slightly to significantly late, the worst having been 25 minutes. Although the company has this information on file, sometimes the drivers have told me that the gate code and my contact phone number were not given to them by the dispatchers; sometimes the driver was late without any explanation. Last night last the "final straw." Bluebird Taxi left my wife and I stranded at RSW Airport after midnight, after our flight arrived about 30 minutes late. As previously agreed with Bluebird Taxi when we made the reservation, when we had our bags and were at the pickup point, we telephoned the Bluebird dispatcher, who was supposed to summon the taxi from the holding lot. The dispatcher gave us the number of the car, said that the taxi would be there momentarily, and confirmed the pickup point. So far so good. Although I was at the pickup point when I spoke with the dispatcher and had a clear view of the entire arrivals area of the airport, nobody ever appeared. When I called back, Bluebird Taxi said that the driver reported us as no-show, which was completely untrue. I explained that we had been there waiting all the time, but the dispatcher at Bluebird Taxi was not helpful, and just kept repeating "You were a no-show." By that time, all of the waiting taxis at RSW Airport had left for the night. With the help of the airport's transportation desk, and after calling several other taxi companies, we were finally able to find one, 35 miles away, that would pick us up at 1:45 a.m. When I worked in the taxi industry previously in my life, I learned that mistakes happen, but that stranded passengers need a quick apology and swift recovery by the company, not a debate. Had they simply said, "We are so sorry and will send a car to your location immediately," they might have avoided this unfavorable review. Bluebird's unreliability and their poor response when problems arise will only lose them customers... which they have done in my case.
